    Hey,

I have been asked to set up several Micro-sites for our company, which isn’t to difficult. However, for ease of maintenace, I’m using the same same database for each, but I’m wondering if there is a way to have a different blog URL so that the sites are all identical but work independantly? Don’t know if there is a relevant plug in at all?

    Thanks.

    Thanks Michael,

Have had a read but it doesn’t look good, although there are a few things on there that will hopefully make my life easier.

    Thanks.

The reason you can’t have sites that “are all identical but work independently” is that presumably the thing about them that would be independent is the data. I have two suggestions:

    1) Try WordPress MU

    2) Try having multiple installations that use the same theme but not the same database

What is the goal behind this?

    Check this out:

The Super Category plugin allows you to have multiple websites running off of one install and one database (one set of tables). The websites can share content if you wish it, and can have different titles, descriptions and themes.

Thanks minnow – this looks quite good and will give it a try. Reason I ask is that my company have asked me to set up a dozen or so micro-sites, specific to a service area, so I was thinking of ways to save time managing them all. I did look at WordPress MU, but to be honest it looks a little overly complicated for me with my limited knowledge!!

    Thanks.
