Use Portfolio grid as homepage, not carousel

    I would like to simply show a 4 column grid of my portfolio categories on my homepage. In the “home layout” I added “portfolio carousel” to the layout and all my categories show up, but I have to scroll through to see them all. However, I don’t want this in a carousel… I just want them to be in a grid and show all of them. I tried just making my portfolio page a 4 column layout, but if I do not have “portfolio carousel” enabled, nothing shows up on either my portfolio page, or my home page. (My home page is set to static–> portfolio.) Any suggestions on how to make this work?

    Unfortunately It’s not a built in option in the free version, It is in premium (FYI)

    To do it in free delete the front-page.php and then make your home page the page that is set up as a portfolio.

    hello,
    i’m relatively new to wp. is there any chance you can further explain how to do that? i mean deleting front-page.php and setting a new home page. i guess you don’t mean deleting the code in front-page.php by using appearance/editor, because i tried and that doesn’t seem to work.
    basically, i also want to use my portfolio grid page to be the first thing that comes up. but when i assign it as static front page it gets messed up. when it isn’t the front page, it just works fine.
    i’d really appreciate if you could help.

    You can’t just remove the content of the front-page.php you have to delete the whole file. This can be done using a FTP client or logging into your server and using the file manager. you can’t do this from the wordpress admin.
    Then it would work if you select the portfolio template.
