I need to build a WP site that matches the main site template.

Essentially I need to stick the page, with no header, footer or sidebar into the center area of the main site. so when you go to the blog page, there is no indication of it being a blog or different page. Smooth transition.

Navigation of the blog pages will be controlled by < link & link > links on the bottom of each post.

Is it possible to create a no template template (seems quick), or do I need to recreate the exiasiting site as a WP site for the blog (seems long)?

  • I don’t understand clearly waht you want.
You could ‘integrate’ the Loop into any non-WP webiste to show your posts… but any link (like the title/permalink, comments etc.) would take you to the non-styled blog, looking completely different than your site.
Of course, if you eliminate all those links from the Loop – the solution should work.

Otherwise the best is to cretae a WP theme based on your existing design.

No idea what the “Loop” is.

I have a 3 column site. Header / footer / left / right have content and menu’s that are static throughout the site. Content in the center obviously.

The client wants the block to be used for posting his news stories etc. And he wants it to be exactly the same as the main site. He does not want the WP sidebar, just the main content.

Reading around I found 2 ways of doing it.

    1) Is to use some code to display the main blog page, on a non WP page. Pulling the posts form there into that page. I think this is what you are referring to. And my thoughts were the same, will links to posts go tot that page, or will they go to WP page.

    2) Recreate the site as a template for WP. This can be done, but do I need to include the Header / Footer / Sidebar content in a WP template? Or can I just use the index.php section placed within my mater site template?

    Hope that makes sense?

The client wants the block to be used…

In that case the client has to hire a knowledgeable WP coder.

You could have been helpful, you chose to be rude.

I have been helpful to more WP users than you could count.
However, I don’t feel obliged to offer free help to “pro” designers that are working on paid jobs.

I only asked for a “yes, you can do that” or “no, you cannot do that” answer, not how-to instructions. If I know it is possible, I will figure it out. If not, I will not bother trying.

I advised my client I have never done a WP template, only MT.
He still chose to go with me.

I have no doubt you have been helpful countless times, to countless amounts of people. That does not excuse your attitude.

Now THAT is extremely helpful and I truly thank-you for that.
Even more than what I was looking for.
