    Hi Hannes,

I would like to add the social media icons to the footer of my email.

What would be the best way to do this?

    1. Add the icons to the template as PNG’s loading from an URL

    or

    2. Use Font Awesome icons

Is there a way to safely use Font Awesome icons in the email? I read there’s quite a few issues with Font Awesome not showing up correctly in some email clients.

How should I go about this,

    Many thanks

  • Hello Joe,
Font Awesome wont work in the majority of email clients. Just upload the PNG icons in WordPress and insert into the footer Textblock of your emails.
    best regards, Hannes

    Hi Hannes,

Many thanks for the super fast reply.

I’ve got one more question to ask. When I add the social media icons as PNG’s, in some email clients (currently testing with Thunderbird ) these will by default be blocked, so you’d see the blocked squares and and you’d have to click the “Show remote content in this message” in order to show the images.

This however doesn’t happen with the logo, which is also an image. The logo doesn’t display, however instead the ‘Header Text’ is displayed.

So how did you do this?

Is this ‘alt’ tag for this image?

I’ve got alt tags setup for all of the PNG social icons too, but they still show up as broken squares.

    Hello,
there’s nothing special about the header image. Just an image with an alt tag.
Maybe the difference is the size, because the alt Tag doesn’t fit into to the square?
