    Hi Yikes!, Tracey, Kevin, Evan,

Thanks for the great Yikes MailChimp plugin ?? I have happily integrated your sign up forms in multiple client websites. Actually working on another one right now.

One question though.. Have you thought of adding support for MailChimp’s native GDPR marketing permissions?

I understand they were not available through the API at first, but they seem to be now..

In all lists I’ve worked on the GDPR fields are enabled in MailChimp, and subscribers so far have some of the native marketing permissions checked. New subscribers using the Yikes sign up form won’t have the native marketing permissions filled (instead using an extra merge field to register consent, using the Yikes GDPR add-on), while other new subscribers through other channels will have native marketing permissions checked (but not the extra merge field used by Yikes GDPR). This requires me to explain a lot to the list managers, who want to send out campaigns to subscribers with registered consent only.

Also when a subscriber, signed up through the Yikes form, clicks the ‘update profile’ link in the MailChimp campaign footer the MailChimp GDPR marketing permissions are displayed but of course none of them are checked, which might be confusing to the subscriber because consent was given and campaigns were sent.

    Hi Menno,

You’re right: Mailchimp has added support for their Marketing Permissions.

I don’t know if it’s full support yet – I will need to do some research. However, this looks like it will be our next top priority for the plugin.

Thanks for getting in touch – we’ll make a ticket for this and work it as soon as possible.

    Thank you,
    Kevin.

Hey Kevin, great, that would make the plugin even better!

Technically one difficulty seems to be to retrieve the Marketing Permission IDs for a list that does not yet contain any members. But some admin feedback could maybe solve this: ‘Your list is empty, please make sure ..etc.’.

    Best,
    Menno
