Is there a way to get returns “<br>” or other HTML tags in the output of the plugin ? I tried to put them into the event or the excerpt, but they are not working. We need a way to put some individual formatting into the text that is shown for each event.

    Hi Mark,

By default the output strips all HTML tags from the excerpt. The pro version has a raw_excerpt that would allow you to output it unchanged:

    https://eventcalendarnewsletter.com/events-calendar-shortcode-pro-options/#raw_excerpt

ie. [ecs-list-events excerpt="true" raw_excerpt="true"] would do the trick. There’s also a description option in pro to just output the main event description rather than running through the WordPress excerpt function.

Hope that helps, if not let me know!

    Hey Brian,

I am using pro, I’ve tried both the raw_excerpt and raw_description, and combinations of both, but it is not including line breaks or p tags.

Do you know what I would need to use to show the full description with the line breaks and formatting, but also need it to strip out the shortcodes, so that the forms don’t appear.

    Thanks,
    Gary

    Hi Gary!

If you’d like to submit a ticket with your license key over at https://eventcalendarnewsletter.com/contact/ with the shortcode you’re using and the page you have it on we can take a look.

Stripping out shortcodes would need some customization but can try to help at least point you in the right direction.

    Thanks!
    Brian
