Use index.php for WordPress and index.html for a different page
-
WordPress newbie here! I need to be able to keep index.html as a non-Wordpress webpage, so my first thought was to have my domain host point my domain where I want WordPress to live (emmaraymond.com) to the index.php file on my local webserver (so emmaraymond.com->myipaddress/index.php).
I’m guessing this is not the right way to do this ?? as 2 things happen:
-none of my WordPress admin/dashboard links work when (left) clicking on them (though I can control or right click to “open the link in a new page/window” and the WordPress admin pages open fine).
-index.html gets overwritten by WordPress
I could live with the right clicking and make index.html read only, but as smart as the other features are I figure WordPress has a right way to do this–which I’m not using?!
Thanks!
