As far as I remember, isn’t it required to make the license GPL for all the plugins hosted at www.remarpro.com? Since the demo plugin uses some GPL licensed components such as the markdown library, the demo plugin cannot change the license type other than GPL.

However, the framework library itself only uses a MIT licensed jQuery plugin as an external component. The demo plugin is just for demonstrating the use of the library. So it might be possible to apply a new license type to the framework library files separately. And I don’t mind doing so.

By the way, if you are planning to include the framework, it is recommended to use v3 as it has breaking changes and not compatible with v2.

I don’t need the sample plugin, I need just the framework for use in my commercial plugin. On GitHub you list the framework as released under GPL v2 – https://github.com/michaeluno/admin-page-framework#copyright-and-license – which from my understanding means that although I would be allowed to use the framework I have to make the license GPL as well which means anyone who buys it can then give it out to anyone else for free. Not ideal.

So looking to find a way to use this framework. I am using another one right now and it for some reason seems to come close to crashing a lot of user’s servers because it is so memory intensive, or at least making all my user’s admin areas incredibly slow.

To be clear, the framework is licensed under GPL v2 or later. So it should be compatible with GPL v3.

I think I understand your situation and I’d love to see the framework is used in commercial products. And as I said, I don’t mind applying a separate license type only to the framework library files ( which do not include the demo plugin files ).

So what is your suggestion exactly?

This is the license from the framework I currently use – https://github.com/Geczy/WP-Simple-Settings-Framework#copyright-and-license

    I will examine that.
