• I’d like to use a page created with the full-width-page template as my site’s home page. When I set it as the home page (via Settings/Reading/Homepage or via Appearance/Customize/Homepage) however, it’s clearly being rendered differently. It has a sidebar (which I know how to turn off), and loses the Featured Image effect that all other pages have. I’d like the WELCOME page of this site to be the homepage, appearing as it does at https://www.3rd-force.org/wordpress/welcome/ .

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

Learning about the WP template hierarchy. Here’s a work-around I did that seems to work. But I’m still interested if there’s a *right* way to do this!

    Workaround:
    1) Downloaded a copy of fullwidth.php from the faith/page-templates directory
    2) Renamed front-page.php to front-page-original.php in the faith directory.
    3) Renamed my copy of fullwidth.php to front-page.php
    4) Uploaded my new front-page.php file in the faith directory.
    5) Changed Settings/Reading/Homepage to Static, pointing to the page I created.

It appears to have accomplished what I wanted. But still…
    1) Is there a better way to do this? and
    2) Have I created some horrible problem that I just haven’t discovered yet?

    Thanks.
