Well, I am new to ACADP but I use it both for classifieds AND business directory. It’s a matter of taxonomy and data representation.
There are two different approaches:
1. Different categories – Start with two Base Categories: Classifieds and Directory, then develop your categories and sub-categories for each base category.
2. Same categories – Develop one taxonomy for both classifieds and Business directory, but create a custom field for all of them, check Form, make it required and searchable and give it weight -3 so that it comes first. BTW, you can give negative and even decimal weights, like -0.4. Call it Sectors or whatever… My sectors are
– Selling
– Offering
– Looking for
– Registering
Then create another form field called Catalog options. Give it less weight, say, -2.5, etc
– Property
– Jobs
– Contractor
– Firm
– Organization
– Person
So, combining the first three sectors with any of the Options gives you lots of Classifieds Catalogs – Estate, Jobs, Tenders, Matchmaker, etc.; while combining Sector Register with option Firm gives you the Business Catalog. Combining Register with the last three options gives you Yellow Pages, etc.
