    Hello,
I have the upgraded Options for Twenty Seventeen, and it’s great, but for some reason the “Use Featured Image as Header Image” option doesn’t work for me.
The linked blog page has this featured image. Checking the box only makes the featured image disappear from the featured image section. But it doesn’t appear in the header section.
Any help would be most appreciated, thanks!

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi,

Please confirm that you have a header image set in “Customiser – Header Media – Header Image”. This option requires that a default header image is set in order for the element to be present to be replaced by the featured image.

Thanks for the quick reply! I set a header image in “Customiser – Header Media – Header Image” but now what happens is the header shows if a featured image isn’t set (example https://mahinastate.org/the-lost-weekend-samplesunday/), but it’s just blank with the grey gradient if there is a featured image set (example https://mahinastate.org/the-pajama-murder-samplesunday/)

It’s not anything in my custom CSS, because removing all custom CSS doesn’t change this. Checking or unchecking “hide featured image” in the individual blog post doesn’t affect anything either.

Any ideas you have for me would be most appreciated!

This might be your choice of header image. Featured images and header images in Twenty Seventeen need to be 2000 x 1200 pixels but it looks like you’re using a logo?

    Here’s one with featured image of 1920 x 1152.
    This is the image
    This is the post–still grey.

EDIT: I deactivated Jetpack and it worked. I do want to use Jetpack, so I guess I won’t be able to use this feature.

OK, I’ve discovered what part of Jetpack breaks this feature. If you turn on Lazy Loading of images then the javascript cannot move the featured image to the header image properly because it’s not been loaded yet and then doesn’t load because the header image it replaces had already been loaded.

Soooooo … we can fix this by adding a filter as described on this site which we will do in the next update.

We’ll let you know when that’s done.
