Use different looks for widgets/siedbars

Hi all,

I am currently looking for a them which will be for an irish pub in germany.
I am now looking for a tutorial on how to make a sidebar/widget look like a chalkboard or a ready-to-use template including this.

My idea is to have a chalkboard on one side, a scroll in the middle and a good implementation of an event calendar on the right hand side.

Can anyone help me on this ?
I am familiar with php programming as well as wordpress itself.
