My site has 4 different landing pages for a product, each slightly different based on the unique selling proposition of a different customer persona. In practical terms, the 4 pages are identical, excepting 1 header, whose text varies according to the persona to which I am trying to appeal.
My question is whether all 4 pages should have the same canonical URL or if they should be treated separately from an SEO point of view. I can see pros and cons for each approach and hope to get more feedback on this question.

Maybe I need to give more details about the case. Suppose one target persona is the unemployed person looking for a job. I have a landing page with a headline “Need help getting a new job?” and I try to place links to this page on job search sites. Another target persona might be a project manager who needs help in better running projects. The headline might say “Need help in finishing your projects faster?” Links to that page might be placed on project management tools pages. And so forth. I hope this gives a clearer idea of the situation.

You’re asking for specific SEO advice, unfortunately, this forum is not the right place to do so. However, there is a lot of SEO advice on Yoast.com in the SEO blog and the dev blog.

Alternatively, you can check out our eBooks, training courses and consultancy services.

We also have additional information on using the canonical tag and in what situations to implement it at the following link: https://yoast.com/rel-canonical/.
