Use an image for comment link

yeah, you really need a comments_popup_url call you could use just to get the href for the comments page, but it doesn’t seem to exist . ??
anyone out there fancy coding a new function?

The comments URL would be echo get_permalink($post->ID) . "#comments";.

ok. i got it in there. i think i just needed to actually sit and look at it for a minute instead of rushing through it, like i do with everything else.
for the comments i had to add the image into each one of the comment states (i.e. ' comments (0)', ' comments (1)', 'comments (%)' )
thus
<?php comments_popup_link('Comments (0)', 'Comments (1)', 'Comments (%)'); ?>
becomes
<?php comments_popup_link('<img src="images/example.gif" width="86" height="22" />', '<img src="images/example.gif" width="86" height="22" />', '<img src="images/example.gif" width="86" height="22" />'); ?>
this also worked for a permalink button.
" rel="bookmark" title="Permanent Link: <?php the_title(); ?>"> <img src="images/example.gif" width="73" height="22" />
i'm probably stating the obvious for those who have a better idea of what they're doing than me, but you never know when a poor soul similar to myself may be wandering these forums.

um…well i can’t seem to login to edit my post for some reason. anyway, that last part got screwed up. it should be:
" rel="bookmark" title="Permanent Link: <?php the_title(); ?>"> <img src="images/example.gif" width="73" height="22" />
(i put that period in ‘href’ just so it wouldn’t be seen as a link again.)
