I’m not understanding this plugin. my understanding was that it would automatically put a url in the 410 list once it is deleted through the admin. But I notice it is not. so when i go to the url it returns 404, then it shows up in the 404 list then i move it to the 410 list and finally get the 410 error.

do I need to use a wild card like https://www.domain.com/* if I want everything that gets deleted to move to the 410 table automatically?

It does not automatically add everything to the 410 list. It records 404’s and then you can choose which ones to mark as 410.

If you add a wildcard entry such as https://www.example.com/* then all pages not found be served as 410.
