    Hello,

I am wondering why woocommerce generates urls using:
product/ or product-category/ -> I know there are plugins that change this, but i’d like to know why woocommerce generates it this way, since it’s not SEO friendly.
Besides, I’d like to know as well why the same thing happens with categories.
    Example:
    domain.com/product-category/product-category-name/
    for categories
    and
    domain.com/product/product-name

Besides the fact that I pointed out above, here we see that product urls generated default by woocommerce aren’t friendly either.
The correct url structure should be:
    domain.com/category-name/subcategory-name/product-name

    I’d like to know:
    1. Why is default woocommerce installation handling url generation like this, affecting SEO friendliness?
    2. Is there an add-on which allows the site to behave as I am stating?
I’ve found this pluging PERFECT SEO URL https://www.perfectseourl.com/, it might get the job done, but I’d like to know what you propose, since maybe there is an add-on developed by automattic which I would be interested in purchasing.

    Thanks

Who told you that they aren’t SEO friendly? I’d love to meet that person.

As a default perma that’s what’s in there. However, you are free to change them without any plugin in Settings > Permalinks

Well, there is no certainty on this fact, since google’s algorithm is totally unknown for most of us mortals.

However, and correct me if I’m wrong:
1.It is good to have a url architecture in order to give google more information on what the page is about:
/category-name/subcategory-name/product-name gives more info than only product-name, right?

2.You are also saying that permas can be changed without any plugins, but, how can we get rid of /product/ and /product-category/?
Removing this in settings->permalinks will not work…

    3. Is there an add-on in woocommerce that performs this?

    Thanks

    1. Yes, but how is having the word product off subject? It’s a product you’re selling so it’s super relatable.

    2. Go to where I told you and name them whatever you want. WooCommerce has its own Perma section

Almost 80% of fashion sites use “collection” and they’re not a trash company or collecting for a charity. Still, they rank like mad.

Our own site, have never changed these settings and still we have done great.
