URL shortener with a twist

Hi All,

I am currently developing a url shortener service with a twist – I would like all urls to be listed on the site and be categorised, for example a user could post a custom url to ‘share’ with the community on the shortener site – this is then put into a category which can be browsed on the site (so someone else could browse all shared links under ‘funny’ for example) – I would want this to be available to users at reader level, so people don’t have to sign up to share a url.

All existing URl shortener plugins fall short of this functionality on two counts:

1. ability to list all urls
2. ability to in some way organise that list into sections (I thought of blogging platform as a possible way to incorporate existing cats functionality)

I’m no expert php developer (I can read it but not code it very well) so any hints for doing this would be grand.
