  • I’m seeing this as well since 3.2.5. No matter what shortener I setup, all I get is example.com/?p=<ID>

I have a few reports of this; don’t know why yet.

Do either of you have the plug-in “WP Twitter Autopost” installed?

Interestingly, I mentioned that plug-in because I noticed it was sharing a filter name for URL shortening…then on closer inspection, noticed that it was a copy of my plug-in…

I’m using your plugin wp to twitter

then on closer inspection, noticed that it was a copy of my plug-in…

    Ugh. That must feel terrible.

And no; I don’t have WP Twitter Autopost installed.

@newzdotit Do you by any chance also use Mashshare? It’s the only other plugin which could have effect on short urls which was also updated.

@joedolson I reverted to version 3.2.4, but unfortunately it doesn’t fix the issue for me.

My shortcode isn’t working either for any scheduled posts. However, inexplicably, when I sent a test Tweet earlier from the plugin this morning, the shortcode worked. Prior to the test, a friend suggested I revoke access to the Twitter account. But I didn’t want to do this or disable the connection in WP (for fear of losing all my current settings).

The only plugins that were recently updated were All in One SEO and Yoast SEO. No WP Twitter Autopost or Mashshare installed. Regarding timing, shortcodes were working on all Tweets prior to 1:30 PM Eastern time Tuesday. I’m not going to monkey around with the settings and keep an eye on this thread to see if anyone comes up with a solution.

Okay, I don’t know if it was the power of suggestion but the last Tweet that went out from my site 12 minutes ago has the shortcode back up and running. Fingers crossed it was just a blip!

This is maddening – I have several reports of this problem, but haven’t yet been able to resolve it or reproduce it. I don’t know what this.

If you were able to go back a version and still have the problem, that’s interesting, however. It suggests strongly that the issue is external somehow, and not actually in the latest changes.

I’ll keep on an eye on things to see if the shortcodes continue to work. There shouldn’t be any reason why I should *not* update plugins as usual, right?

    Plugin Author Joe Dolson

    (@joedolson)

No, no reason not to update, as far as I know.

@joedolson: Sorry. I was wrong. Reverting did in fact help and send correct short urls again (twitter.com/iCulture). I had one post which probably felt through the cracks because it was generated when we had 3.2.5 still active and that’s where my initial comment came from.

So, all posts generated through and tweeted from through WP to Twitter 3.2.4 have the correct shorturl again.

    Maddening. Thanks for the update.

    Hi,

Same here, no URLs shortening, all URLs are like domain.com/?p=ID

I disabled Social (url shortening worked with this plugin) and removed the Twitter account in Jetpack Publicize. Still no shortening. Try every service to no avail (except custom).

What is weird is that it works on another blog, on the exact same server, but with a different install and slightly different plugins.

    Edit : WPtT 3.2.5 and WP 4.4.2
