Been using the Offload S3 plugin for some time now, and love it. Recently I set the option to remove the uploaded images from our server, and thus far they have been displaying perfectly on our site. However today I tried to use an image as a background for a Visual Composer row, and while the shortcode for VC does show that the URL is the S3 bucket URL when I view the page, the CSS that VC generates uses the local URL (/wp-content/uploads). But as our file was removed from the server it cannot find it.

Do you have any idea as to why VC would change the URL from the S3 bucket to a local one?

We have the same problem with one of our sites. I switched to the option to remove uploaded images from the server. In a few days the user reported a problem and when I looked the URL was getting changed from the S3 URL to the local URL. I turned the option off and installed updates. Worked fine. Later I switched the option on again and had the same problem. Now I leave that option off.
