URL resricted ?

  • There seems to be some sort of restriction for me on using a work in my url.
    I have successfully created the page and designated the name in the url. I update successfully. But when I go to view the page, I get a godaddy 404.
    If I simply change the spelling of the word in the url, it works.

    The url I’ve been trying to utilise is
    laciotat.fr/cpf

    An example of another that is successfully created 1 minute after

    https://laciotat.fr/cpf-1/

    All other urls that I’ve tried can be successfully created. Does anyone understand why I’m having a problem with this isolated url name?

  • it’s possible you have an attachment page that already uses that url. Or, maybe you have a restriction or redirect in the .htaccess file? Finally, look at your error logs on godaddy or call godaddy to find out why page won’t display.

    Please allow me to sort through your response line by line.

    1) attachment page that uses url…
    Well, I have no images in my media that are traced to that url. I have not pages or posts that are using that url. I’ve also verified that I have no pages or post in my trash nor in my draft pages/posts
    So…as far as I know, that should rule this out. True ?
    2) I simply don’t know what to look for in the htaccess regarding this.
    Any hints ? The url is not mentioned as as restriction of any type.
    3) My error log is completely empty and godaddy says that they don’t support this kind of issue which is a wordpress issue .

    So…Sifting through past topics in the forum, I see some things about htaccess but as I said, the problem is isolated to the word “cpf” at this time. I’d hate to cause more problems by making modifications that I’m not familiar with.

    Again, I appreciate the reply.

    Have you got any other pointers or possible work arounds regarding these topics.
