• Since my webhost is located in the US, and most of my viewers are from EU, I wanted to set up CloudFlare to shorten the response time from the server.
In order for CloudFlare to work, I need to redirect mydomain.com to https://www.mydomain.com.
To do so, I’ve used the .htaccess file.
It only caused me trouble, so I removed the line from .htaccess because it would give me a 404 when trying to access https://www.mydomain.com/forums

However, now that I removed the line and my wordpress settings are back on how they used to be before I started with the redirect, I am still getting 404s on both mydomain.com/forums and https://www.mydomain.com/forums, while the main page is now mydomain.com again.

    EDIT:
In fact, any page other than the homepage (mydomain.com) will give me a 404.

  • Hi there!

Just an idea but did you try the permalinks?

Sometimes just going to Settings -> Permalinks & clicking ‘Save Changes’ seems to refresh everything.

I’ve had a 404 issue like that when cloning a site or changing the site url and refreshing the permalinks always seems to save the day! ??

Anyways, just an idea but I hope it helps!

    Cheers,

I set both the WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) to https://www.mydomain.com and all pages work again and the site is now finally how I needed it to be: automatically redirects to www

However, I have another problem now. Login doesn’t work anymore. When clicking on Login, it just opens a small, white frame where the login is supposed to be loaded. But it won’t load.
It is strange that it will load when accessing login from mydomain.com/about-us and mydomain.com/contact-us works, but it doesn’t for any other page like /forums or the home page.

    EDIT:
And even though I am logged in on the home page and other pages, it doesn’t log me in for /forums.

This just happened to me a moment ago too. However, I can no longer access my Dashboard at all now. I can’t even log into the WP installed on my site pretty much like FliP0x’s issue.

I can login to my dashboard and hopepage. Everything except the forum for some reason. Even though I am logged in on my homepage, I am logged out on my forum. If I go to any other page other than /forums, I am logged in again.

    EDIT:
I reverted my settings back to mydomain.com and it works again. So I suppose it has something to do with the forum directory, but I don’t know what it is.
