URL redirect while maintaining former URL displayed in browser bar?
-
Hi
We have a new website, currently not yet live but as a placeholder at https://igrsj.test.sites.olt.ubc.ca. To create it, we merged the content from two previous websites. For one of these sites, the CSIS program at https://csis.arts.ubc.ca, this CSIS URL is displayed on CSIS print publications so we need that URL to continue to work.
It’s possible by keeping this old/currently-live website https://csis.arts.ubc.ca live, apparently; we can redirect those going to that site [https://csis.arts.ubc.ca] to the new website’s page for that CSIS program which is at https://igrsj.test.sites.olt.ubc.ca/undergraduate/critical-studies-in-sexuality.
However, the director of our program insists that when users go to the new webpage for the CSIS program, the browser bar display https://csis.arts.ubc.ca rather than https://igrsj.test.sites.olt.ubc.ca/undergraduate/critical-studies-in-sexuality. Our IT says this is not possible. Some here believe that it is possible.
Is it possible to have the old URL https://csis.arts.ubc.ca display in the browser bar when the user is at https://igrsj.test.sites.olt.ubc.ca/undergraduate/critical-studies-in-sexuality?
Lisa
