So I’m doing some freelance work for a large company and they’ve asked me to set up the test website on my own server, but to mask my domain so that the client can access the test site but not know my company’s name/URL. What is the best way to accomplish this without messing with my own WordPress website and other test sites on my server? I’ve never done URL masking before. What would show up in the address bar when the client accesses the test site?

    Thanks in advance!

  • I suppose you would register another domain anonymously, point it to the test website, and change the settings in WordPress so that URLs show the anonymous domain.

However, it is easy for a user to search for all websites on the same server, and your company’s name might well be obvious on your other sites.

Registering a generic domain name to use was my first thought. I think I’ll go that route. Thanks!
