In the SERP results, Google shows my URL as sitename.com/blog instead of sitename.com/articletitle. Is this a setting within Yoast? Or do I need to change it somewhere else? Will this change mess anything up. Thanks!

Thanks for reaching out regarding your breadcrumbs.

This is likely due to Google outputting it as a breadcrumb rich result with the category or URL path instead of showing the full slug, which is because of the corresponding Yoast SEO breadcrumb schema output.

If I understand correctly, you will like the slug to show in the breadcrumb trail on the search results for your posts. By default, for the option of taxonomies to show in the breadcrumbs for the post content type, you can only select category, tag, or format. However, you may modify it to something else. We recommend checking out the available documentation here –?https://yoast.com/help/implement-wordpress-seo-breadcrumbs/

In the breadcrumbs settings, there was a toggle for “Show blog page in breadcrumbs”. I toggled it off. Will this correct the problem having the term “blog” show up in the SERP URL instead of the post title?

The setting “Show blog page in breadcrumbs” shows the Blog in the breadcrumbs path and not the site name e.g. Home > Blog > MyBlogPost.

Can you provide a real example (may be a screenshot) of Google showing your domain as sitename in search results instead of the name? You can use any image-sharing service like https://pasteboard.co/, https://snag.gy/, https://imgur.com/, https://snipboard.io/, or even upload the screenshot to your own website. Once you upload it to an image-sharing service, please share the link to the image here.
