Hello, I noticed on changelog for v6.4.4 that the feature to automatically add https to URL fields if they aren’t containing them as added. This is causing an untended issue for a site I’m working on where the URL field was being used to hold the email address link instead of a URL link. So when the https gets added the URL is breaking.

From reviewing options I see that we can add a text field with email validation (and probably should’ve from the start), which I’m assuming we’ll have to do. But I was hoping / wondering if you’d consider making the URL https:// check optional so that we could toggle it off. Our listing directory has around 400ish listings so we’re hoping to not have to swap them all to a new field.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @stremel

Thanks for reaching out to us.

I don’t think this is something our team plans on changing, at least not anytime soon. I would actually recommend using the email validation option, as you mentioned.

There is actually a simple way you can make this change to your listings. You can accomplish this by exporting your data in bulk with a sequence ID. Then, you can add the new email field and update the exported CSV file to change the header for the email column to match the new field. Finally, reimport the data. If you need more detailed instructions, you can find them in our Knowledge Base here: https://businessdirectoryplugin.com/knowledge-base/how-do-i-do-mass-data-changes-in-the-plugin/

Whenever doing a bulk change like this, it’s highly recommended that you test one or two listings first to ensure nothing goes wrong with the import. It will help you prepare for any surprises when handling all the listings.

I hope that helps. Please feel free to let me know if you have any further questions or concerns!

    Best regards,
