Urgent: Recaptcha stopped working

  • It seems other people having the same problem.

    Recaptcha suddenly stopped working.

    Working fine this morning 17/1/25 8:46 (GMT) as had an enquiry through. Later had a message at 10:26 to say forms aren’t sending.

    Checked on above site, and indeed there is an error message: “There was an error trying to send your message. Please try again later.”

    Switched off recaptcha and form sends fine with no error message. Checked keys they look fine. Recaptcha logo not showing on frontend of site.

    Checked on two other sites and not getting the same problem. Recaptcha logo is showing on these two sites.

    All three sites running Contact form 7 v6.0.3

    Any help greatly appreciated.

  • I have stopped using recaptcha as it is giving me headaches. And it no longer effective against some advanced spam.

    I am using WP Armour to block spam now and it works better (no setup needed, just uninstall recaptcha and install + activate wp armour).

    I’ve tried WP Armor, and it didn’t work for me. It blocks all users, even non-bots. We’ve stopped spam messages by adding a quiz field to each form. This means that if you’re not human you can’t submit it. It’s a patch at the moment, until a new version of the plugin is released.
