Hi Guys! I’ve been dealing with a problem on my clients website that I have yet to figure out. This is an urgent issue so I’m hoping someone can just help with the answer rather then tell me my website is fine and I should leave it alone. The problem is NOT fine and it’s having negative effects on my SEO.

Problem: My website is arashlaw.com .

when you type in ANYTHING after my root domain (even if its not an actual page on my website) the server automatically redirects to the home page.

    Example: https://arashlaw.com/laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalalalalaaaaaaaa

It SHOULD just give me a 404 page. I can’t for the love of god figure out why this is happening. We had some redirection plugin installed before but I disabled all plugins and deleted .htaccess on my server – Nothing. No matter what I do, non existent pages still bring you to the home page. I need these to return as 404.

Any guidance is much appreciated, please help!

Thanks for the link, but that did not solve my problem.

The conclusion in that post is to change the .htaccess with settings that don’t make sense for my setup. That user was unable to access any page on his website. I AM able to access the real pages. The problem is that non-existing pages redirect to home page when they should return a 404.

Any other ideas? Thanks in advance!

Hmm.. I’m not sure if it’s a good solution, but try to force redirect using this instruction.
