Urgent: No content showing up after import!

  • Hi,

    I’ve tried contacting support through email and can get no help on this issue. In the past WordPress support has been incredibly prompt and helpful so I’m disappointed. And I decide`d to try the forums!!

    Here is my problem: I am trying to import an old blog from blogger onto my new?wordpress.com?site. When I tried it, I followed all the steps (I did it through my wordpress dashboard>tools) and it seemed liked it worked…. except no content images or comments are showing up on my wordpress site. Only the titles of the posts… the posts themselves and the comments are blank. Do you know what the problem may be? Did I miss a step?

    ok thanks, but the same question applies to my self hosted WordPress site as well! my site is : inside-out magazine.com and the site I’m trying to import is inside-out-girl.blogspot.com. no content shows up after my import there either… can you help me with that?

    What type of data have you tried to import?

    Are the permissions set correctly on your directories, presumably CHMOD 0666

    Without these permissions some parts of the import may fail.

    thanks for your help! I’m just trying to import posts, along with images and comments, from my old blogger site to my new self hosted WordPress one.

    I’m not sure of the permissions are set correctly… how would I check that?

    @bioshox: There’s very little chance this has to do with permissions.

    @wordcrazy: What and how are you trying to import? With the WordPress blogger importer? What error messages are you getting?

    And as pointed out by esmi: are you trying to import into self-hosted WordPress or at another account at wordpress.COM ?

    I am trying to import an old blog (posts, images, comments) from blogger to my new self hosted WordPress site. I tried importing it for my WordPress dashboard>tools>import. I received no error messages and it seemed to work fine, but when I looked at my site all that is there are the titles of the posts – no content, images, or comments.

    As to what was pointed out by esmi, I am actually trying to import old blogger blogs to both my WordPress.com site and my new self hosted WordPress site (I’m moving all my blogs over from blogger). The same problem happened on both sites. However, since these forums are only for self hosted sites I decided to ask about that one.

    Do you have any ideas as to what might be wrong?

    You might want to try exporting the data again, getting a fresh WordPress install, and try the import again.

    It could be possible that there was an error exporting it.

    It worked!! All my content, images, and comments are showing up now!! Thank you so much, I’m really happy.

    For some reason it didn’t work on my wordpress.com site though… I guess I’m stuck there :/
