• I have a client and myself who have now reached a point where we are utterly and completely at our wits end!.

    Client wants the following:

1.) He wants guests to be able to checkout without having to create an account
2.) He also wants account creation abilities for those clients who want to create an account.

In WooCommerce settings in wp-admin we have the following:

    Guest checkout checkbox is ticked.
Enable log-in during checkout is ticked.

    Account creation:
Allow customers to create an account during checkout checkbox is ticked.

and Send password setup link (recommended) checkbox is ticked.

    On the front end
During the checkout procedure – you can see the login link which would be correct as it has been set to show the login link

There is also a checkbox to create an account as is set which would be correct as we have set the account creation during checkout.

There is also a message to say that “You are currently checking out as a guest.”

The client feels that if the

1.) customer wants to checkout as a guest – he shouldnt need to check the checkbox to create an account – he should be able to proceed with the checkout and be directed to the payment gateway.

2.) The customer who wants to create an account then checks the checkbox and proceeds with the payment.

The issue we having is that if the customer doesnt want to create an account and he doesnt check the checkbox to create an account – he doesnt get redirected to the payment gateway.

The client needs both options to work – is this possible?

    Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. I understand you’re experiencing an issue where customers who choose to check out as guests (without selecting the “Create an account” checkbox) are not being redirected to the payment gateway.

Could you confirm if this issue is specific to a particular payment gateway plugin? If so, which payment gateway are you currently using? Additionally, could you share screenshots showing the checkout redirection process for both logged-in customers and guest checkouts? If you don’t have a screenshot tool, you can use Snipboard.io to share them easily.

In the meantime, I recommend running a conflict test by deactivating all plugins except WooCommerce and your payment gateway plugin. Switching to a default theme like Storefront can also help determine if the issue is caused by a theme or plugin conflict. You can follow this guide for a full conflict test: https://woocommerce.com/document/how-to-test-for-conflicts/.

It would also be helpful to review your System Status Report for more insight into your setup. You can find this in your WooCommerce dashboard under WooCommerce > Status. From there, select Get system report and then Copy for support.

If there are any fatal error logs, please share those as well. You can find them under WooCommerce > Status > Logs.

Once you’ve gathered this information, please paste it into a Code block in your reply or use pastebin.com and share the link with us.

Let me know what you find!

As far as plugins are concerned, the Client is using
    Nightsbridge Widget,
    Yoast SEO,
    WP Sweep,
    Payfast – and obviously WooCommerce.

The theme we are using is Enfold.

Below I’ve pasted the system report and the batch-processing log – the wc-logger logs for some reason have been deleted not sure by who.

    No fatal error logs.

Screenshot of frontend on the checkout page https://snipboard.io/y2FHPp.jpg

What I really need confirmation about is if the settings as you can see above – set like that

1.) should a customer not choosing to create an account still be able to continue with the checkout process and be directed to payment gateway without checking the checkbox to create an account.

2.) if there is a customer who does want to create an account, by checking the checkbox he can create an account and continue with the checkout process and be directed to the payment gateway,

In both scenarious – is this how it is meant to work?

    Hi @mommaroodle,

I’ve just tested the checkout flow on your site (https://liedjiesbos.co.za/checkout/) and was able to proceed to the payment page without being prompted to log in or create an account. You can see a screenshot of the payment page here for reference: https://cln.sh/hKvHDC7M1ls90DfktwTs.

Based on your attached screenshot and system status report, everything appears to be configured correctly. In both scenarios, whether a customer opts not to create an account (guest checkout) or chooses to create one by checking the box, they should be able to complete the checkout process and be directed to the payment gateway.

Please test the flow again on your end and let me know if you continue to experience any issues. We’re here to help if you need further assistance.

Yes it works because we only have the guest checkout enabled and not the create account – did you not notice that there was no login in and the checkbox to create an account was missing.

An that is what is not working – when we have both, the login link and the checkbox to create an account – if they both together enabled – then customers who dont want to create an account – cant checkout.

    Hi @mommaroodle,

Thank you for the clarification. I tested your checkout again and noticed that if a user does not check the “Create an account with…” box, the page reloads instead of redirecting to Payfast for payment.

This issue appears to be a conflict. To troubleshoot, please try temporarily disabling the NightsBridge plugin and test the checkout again.

If the problem persists, consider setting up a staging site. On the staging site, switch to the Storefront theme with the NightsBridge plugin disabled. Then, share the link with us so we can test it from our end.
