Purchased this blog from the former owner with no problems. Apparently she deleted her ID and when doing that took 2,000 posts with her–the whole shell of the blog. So right now I paid $1,000 for nothing. I don’t think it was intentional – heck maybe I did it when I tried to make her authority a “subscriber” but I am sick now because I have nothing to show for a grand.

Please don’t ask me if I backed up – I don’t even know how. Is there someway, anyway anything can be salvaged.

    I am near tears.

If you can help, please contact me offline. I am sick.

Anyone? Please? Any way for me to recover??

Try to be more comprehensive… and only one issue per topic.

Yeah, you are making very little sense. Recover what? The posts the former owner took with them? Why don’t you talk to them?

Looks to me like a cheap attempt to advertise 2 different sites and get some Google juice at the same time.

    Yeah, that last bit especially.

Is her ID deleted or not? First you said it was deleted, then you said you were changing her role to subscriber.

When you delete an ID, you are presented with an option to delete the posts for it, or assign the posts to another user. If delete was chosen, they’re gone. The only thing that would save you is if there is a backup. You could check with your ISP, as some make regular backups. That’s likely to be your only hope.

Okay lets try again, I purchased CMBLOG from the previous owner for $1,000. We’ve been working together on getting my learning curve up so she can cease helping me. One of 2 things happened:

    1. Either in my attempt to change her “athority levels” I deleted her ID and hence all of her posts which made up the blog in its entirety except for a couple of things I began when I took over. SHe was the only owner so if her ID was deleted by me in error OR BY HER, is there anyway to recover the database prior to the point where the deleted ID occurred.

And for those of you who start making accusations about Google and advertising, gimme a break. IF I was smart enough to recover my info and or smart enough to know what happened I certainly am not savvy enough to do what the not so nice ones accuse a stranger of…..

So if there is a way for me to recover my blog prior to around 5pm today how would I do that? Is it someone here who can help or someone where the blog is hosted? I don’t even know if that is the same place…

So please think real basic level–that’s where I am. Not sinister motives–just real grass roots help is what I need. And I certainly will pay you for your time.

    Thank you, Donna BLiss

I don’t know if her posts were deleted – I imagine they were becuase voila they are not there….I just don’t if I did it or she did it purposely. Either way that is the jist. The posts are gone.

YOu say contact my ISP. Is the ISP for this blog different than where I go for my regular emails, web sites. I mean for my business sites I use “hostasaurus” and for personal email its optimum online but for the blog??? Or would it be EsoSoft Support ???

I won’t put any contact info down for fear some of the ones above think I have search engine motives….its a blog for goodness sake about a little celbrity crush – i just need it back. Thanks.

If anyone can take me under their wing, I will pay you for your time. Donna

When I say contact your isp, I mean your web page host. They may have a routine backup as part of their service. They might not.

When you go into the admin area of wordpress, and click manage, are the posts there? It’s possible they are not visible on the blog while still being in the database. I can’t imagine what you actually did when you were attempting to change her role, so I can’t rule that out. The bottom line is, if they are in the database, you should see them under the Manager tag in the admin area.

No they are all gone. With her user ID went all her posts, images, pages–anything that came from her ID. What a crappy day I am having. Thanks anyway.

    Right.
So have you checked with the actual host of the blog to see if they have any backups? Or, for that matter, perhaps the person who sold it to you backed it up. Heck, WP 2.x comes with a db backup plugin… maybe they used it?

As something else to do: at that host, do you have access to something like phpMyAdmin so you could at least peak in the database and see if the posts are still there?

if you talk to your web host, you want to ask them if they have a backup of your mysql database. If they have one from before the loss, you can recover it. Ask them to email you the backup, and get advice from here on how to proceed.

If they don’t have a backup, you’ve lost the posts.

Not to rub salt into your wounds (I hope your host DID backup regularly)… but this is a great point to say BACKUP your database!

It’s a simple process and one I would have done before handing over $1000 buckolas.

You can do it from the Manage>Backup admin screen if you’ve activated the WordPress Database Backup Plugin.
