Big website launching soon and menus are suddenly not working

    Hi.

    I got this huge problem 2 days before launch of a wp- site for a very important client of mine. Suddenly I am not able to create new menus!!

    When I hit “create new menu” the site just loads and nothing happens. AND the menues i created earlier are gone!!

    Please someone help ?? This is a small crisis for me (and my client).

  • Do you have a lot of menu items (like more than 90)? Might be this:

    I have maximum 60. However none of the menus show under “appearance- menus”, but if i try to make a new one with the same name as one of the missing menus I get an error saying this name already exists or similar.

    If I create a new menu with a new name nothing happens.

    Do you have any caching on your site? Have you cleared your browser cache or tried another browser?

    If it’s not that, start deactivating all plugins to see if any are causing this. If not, leave them off and switch to a default theme – see if you still have this problem. If not, reverse your steps one by one to find the culprit.

    If that doesn’t work, please post a link to your site.

    Tried with another browser, even another pc. Ive tried deactivating all plugins. If I change to a default theme I am afraid to mess up the whole site. May changing theme not cause problems?

    Did you read the article about menu item limits – I’m guessing that may be the problem – it CAN happen with fewer than 90 – it depends on the server. Might be worth checking into – since that seems to be the only thing not working on your site?

    Yes I read it, but it was pretty technical for my knowledge level at the moment. I will read it again and try to find a solution there.

    Other suggestions are most welcome though ?? And thx a lot for you support !
