How can I allow uppercases in usernames? When people try to register their usernames on frontend they want to use uppercases also. Now they get an error, only lowercases are accepted.

Didn’t find any setting for that in WP admin or WP User Control settings. Is it possible (I believe it is) and how to change the settings or php-code?

    Thanks in advance!

    HeavyRainWP,

WP does not allow uppercase user names. I’m not aware of any workaround for this.

    Thanks Bill,

Actually I found a little plug-in which does its job very good. So it really is possible to use uppercases, numbers, spaces and special characters with user names.

    Cheers!

I’ve made dozens of WordPress sites and I’ve ALWAYS used full uppercase in my username.

I’ve found that this restriction is when using WP User Control with BuddyPress Forums. I could use uppercase prior to installing BP while using WPUC, but afterward I couldn’t. I switched WPUC to a different registration plugin and now it allows it.

This is definitely a restriction in WPUC.
