Uploads Symlink issue
-
Hi,
For quite some time now, we’ve noticed some strange behaviour when deleting old exports from your plugin.
On our live servers we use separate directories for our source code and shared files. In our source code directories we use symlinks to link these shared files with our most current version of the live website. This way we don’t have to worry about overwriting shared files when updating our code. One of these shared directories is our WordPress uploads folder.
When we delete old exports from within the WP All Export Pro admin panel, this symlink to our uploads folder is removed. We’ve never seen this issue before with other plugins, only this one. Is this perhaps something you’ve heard of before, or is this kind of server architecture not supported with the plugin?
Thanks in advance for your reply!
If you need any more information we’re happy to help!PHP version: 7.1
Wordpress version: 5.5.3
WP All Export Pro version: 1.6.2
We do run WooCommerce on this website too, version 4.7.0
We use Bedrock/Sage for our WordPress architecture / theme developmentSteps that we’ve taken to reproduce:
– Go to the wp-admin panel of the website
– Navigate to WP All Export -> Manage Exports
– Select all 25 exports in the list, bulk action delete
– Confirm deletion
– SSH to our server and navigate to our source directory
– Check if the symlink to our uploads folder is removed, this is the case
