Uploading video in WordPress 2.7

  • I’m having the hardest time understanding how to load video. I’m using WordPress 2.7 and when I click the “add video” button I’m taken to my media gallery but I cannot see the videos I’ve uploaded, just the images. My gallery says I have other items in my gallery I just can’t see the items. (I could see the items in WordPress 2.6 but I couldn’t upload them.)

    I read something about using custom fields to insert video but I really don’t understand it as I’ve tried it and it doesn’t work.

    Anyways, I managed to insert video into a post using the add/insert embedded media button, and it worked; however, I don’t get any audio.

    Is anyone else having this issue? Does anyone have a video they can share to show WordPressed challenged folks like myself how to use custom fields?

    I don’t understand why so many people have a problem with this. How difficult is it to copy the embed code from a video and paste it into a post?

    Obviously, simply copying and pasting embed code is not a problem, but for people familiar with other blogging services like blogger, that provide free video uploading, conversion, and hosting in one simple step, wordpress is a little misleading in that one would think that similar functionality would be available, but it’s not–for free anyway. Sure, for most users, uploading to a video hosting/distribution service like youtube and then copying the embed code into a blog post isn’t a problem, but what if you have an exclusive blog and you don’t want videos included there to be public? Also, the process of uploading at one website, copying code and pasting code to a different website is more steps than are necessary when considering what other services offer. Anyway, wordpress offers videopress for this functionality which, at the time of this post, is $60 a year. I am dissappointed it’s not free.

    I have subscribed/PAID for VIDEOPRESS (through wordpress.COM) and have also paid for extra storage. Per the promotional material i understood I could then copy and past the shortcode and/or the embed code and put my video content on ANY wordpress blog in www.remarpro.com…
    They worked for a bit, but now videos do not show when using EXPLORER Browser. Works but in wrong size format using FIREFOX and works perfectly using SAFARI for MAC.

    Please upgrade your wporg videopress plugin to the latest version (0.2.0). The previous version has a bug that prevented the correct display of width and height.

    First of all, some people try to UPLOAD their OWN vids instead of using EMBEDDED videos like wordpress. How do you do that.

    I’ve always find it easier to do things the stone-age way than to learn how a CMS would do it. I myself would go to my website’s folder (if you’re using your own hosting plan and not using wordpress.com) then I upload my video there and use simple HTML Embed code to show up my vide or add a download link to my video or use some of the javascripts available online for free.

    However, if you’re using wordpress.com I have no idea.
