Uploading “Pulp” Theme

  • I downloaded the theme “pulp” from the theme viewer and uploaded it into my wp-content/themes directory, but it’s still not showing up in my themes list on the administrator page.

    Is there something special I need to do to install this theme?

    I tried it again without renaming it. It still didn’t work. I’m using cyberduck. Is there anything about this FTP program that’s different?

    What ftp client are you using? Do you have cPanel on your host? It might be worth either getting a different ftp client or uploading through your cPanel file manager, just to check.

    Never heard of cyberduck. How about going and grabbing filezilla? https://filezilla.sourceforge.net/

    See if a change of ftp clients helps. If not, if you want to contact me off-board, I’ll see if we can work out some way for me to upload etc. for you and see if that fixes it. vkaryl_at_bytehaven_dot_com.

    I have a Mac, so I was under the impression that Filezilla wouldn’t work for me. Do you know if that’s true? I will try contacting you off board to get this straightened out.

    I don’t. As I said above, I know nothing about macs. But I should be able to do an ftp upload for you regardless. So yes, mail me and we’ll see what we can do.

    Just to give some sort of resolution here: I helped mgottfried get it worked out. It’s a case of a somewhat non-standard server config, and the “obvious” wp folder is NOT the one where things have to be uploaded. So I copied her on the actual server path she needs to use to load things (like themes and plugins) so that she’ll see them in her wp admin section.

    It would be good to know which host – so we could advise users in the future.
    Last time somebody posted about a weird server setup on 1and1…

    Maybe she’ll post back about who it is. I don’t know that it’s a commercial host….
