• Help me! I’m trying to upload a few pics into my wp gallery…but I get the following errors for several photos:

Warning: imagecreatefromstring() [function.imagecreatefromstring]: gd-jpeg: JPEG library reports unrecoverable error: in /homepages/13/d323077778/htdocs/weddingflowers/wp-includes/media.php on line 253

Warning: imagecreatefromstring() [function.imagecreatefromstring]: Passed data is not in ‘JPEG’ format in /homepages/13/d323077778/htdocs/weddingflowers/wp-includes/media.php on line 253

Warning: imagecreatefromstring() [function.imagecreatefromstring]: Couldn’t create GD Image Stream out of Data in /homepages/13/d323077778/htdocs/weddingflowers/wp-includes/media.php on line 253

The photo does get uploaded, but I am unable to edit it with the editor. And if I try to make create a gallery on a page, it does not create the proper thumbnails…it shows the full size photo for the ones where I got this error message.

  • Ensure that you are using standard encoded .jpg files. If necessary, re-save them in your graphics software as “standard encoded” or “optimised for web”.

    Yes…they are standard encoded.

I can upload 10 files, all from the same batch of photos from the same camera/source. 6 will upload just fine while the other 4 gets to error messages. I have tried manipulating them in a variety of ways in Photoshop, but nothing seems to work on these photos.

And I can’t find a good gallery plugin that doesn’t rely on the wp media gallery. So so far, I’m screwed on getting a gallery up and running…

6 will upload just fine while the other 4 gets to error messages.

What happens if you try to re-upload those 4 images again?
