Uploading PDF’s and Documents

    Hey Everyone,
    I am a bit new to wordpress. I am trying to upload files such as *.pdf and *.doc to my blog, but when I try to open the link, an error comes up saying it’s not there. I checked my FTP server and the file is present, but the link isn’t working. Any ideas?

  • Are you sure you’ve got the right URL to the document? Double check it…

    Did you upload the files via FTP? I seem to have problems with that. If they aren’t uploaded using the upload area in admin, WP can’t see them. I am just now starting to investigate the problem — it may have to do with the database. The DB may write more information to various tables than just a simple location of a file, and if so, upload via FTP isn’t going to work. Let me know if you learn anything else. I have a lot of pdf and doc files to upload — I was hoping to use an upload manager plugin, but what I’ve tried so far doesn’t upload multiple files at once (but all the other features are neat.)

    I believe I solved my problem. I was directly adding the link to the html code, so I dragged the file over from the file browser and it worked. I was using the default upload mechanism for wordpress.
