Uploading one image leads to 10 resized files. why?

  • I just uploaded a single picture using the wordpress upload button on the post edit page.

    But why are 11 files created on the server? 10 resized versions.

    I understand why 1 resize is needed, for the post thumbnail. But why the rest? Can I change this?

  • WordPress has different image size requires not only 1. Also the theme can add the resize image it need.

    You can change it but it’s better not to do this.
