Uploading Movies

  • Over the last year, I’ve tried a handfull of times to upload videos (.mov). Even when they were under 8kb, they will not upload. I have uploaded them via ftp but they still do not show up in my media files. What am I doing wrong? We would like to promote some events with video.

  • Hi,

    Make sure that you have uploaded .MOV file in proper folder. Also add require MIME Types in hosting control panel to work it.

    Regarding upload from media section of wordpress, are you getting any error message?

    If yes, then provide it.

    If you upload via ftp, it won’t appear in your media section without a plugin

    However, I prefer to uplaod via ftp, and then use this plugin to show the video

    Shane G. Thank you for your reply. I was trying to load .pdf files and .mov files in wordpress admin. I may have gotten error messages in the past about the size of my file. This time, it just acted like it was uploading forever and just stuck there. When I uploaded them via ftp, I found the upload file with the .pdf’s in it and sent the movies there. But they do not show up in the media files in admin.

    RVoodoo – Added both plugins, but will the vipers video plugin help me embed the video I just added from the server? I see youtube, vimeo, etc.

    A quick google gave me this code to try for embedding a .mov:

    But I just get a box with an x in it upon publishing my page: https://www.oliveknolls.com/?p=1403

    OH WAIT – found the basic embed video icon, but it still doesn’t show up for me. ?
