If you keep seeing errors like ‘503 Gateway timeout’, ‘maximum execution time exceeded’ or something similar, then the only way around it is try and increase the allowed maximum execution time ( the plugin tries to disable it, but this isn’t allowed on all hosts ) and memory limit.

If you’re comfortable editing files, then you can try and raising the memory limit and maximum execution time yourself. Otherwise you should contact your host and ask if they can raise it for you ( if you try and raise it yourself and it doesn’t work, then also ask your host to do it. Your not always allowed to raise it yourself ).

I have the same issue and even after contacting my host i was unable to resolve it. I do the 200 at a time also. Just have to deal with it for now ??

Thanks for your reply Tijmen Smit and cutrano. The host increased the time. I learned, not sure if its a pattern, but the day went on past 5pm and the data upload got better, makes me think day time hours the internet is sluggish, then after work it gets better, about 530 pm I was able to increase it to 800. It would be helpful to have a sidedoor, i.e., ftp the database. Ps: Host is Dreamhost with Dreampress
