    Hi there,
Thanks for creating this very useful plugin!
I tried your plugin but it would not allow me to upload a .json file vis the media manager of wordpress 5.4.1. I am using WP Network and setup worked well though I could not upload the file.
    Thank you so much,
    Kelly

P.S. I network activated and setup through the main/root site, went smoothly.

    Hi @raincity,

Thanks for getting in touch. Did you check the .json extension from the list? The mime type of json file typically is application/json. If you’d like to upload json file with mime type such as text/plain, you can use the ‘Custom File Type’ section. In case it helps, you can check the mime type of the file by uploading here.

    I hope this helps!

I did not find .json in the original list.
I added it via the “add custom file types”.
It now shows at the top of the list with a check mark in the box.
I tried to upload a .json file from the media manager.
The resulting message was “Sorry, this file type is not permitted for security reasons.”

    Hi @raincity,

It might be because file’s mime type didn’t match the one you’ve added in the Settings. You can check for the correct mime type here: https://htmlstrip.com/mime-file-type-checker.

    I hope this helps!

    Thank you for your response!
I tried your link, the mime file checker with my .json file and a known Google maps .json file.
The response for both was “text/plain”.
I did follow their link for file samples but I found no .json files there.
Have you tested your plugin with a .json file?

    Hi @raincity,

Thanks for the details. The list should already contain .json file with application/json mime type which you can override with text/plain by adding the file type in ‘Add Custom Type’ section. I’ve tested with this file type in multisite and it worked fine. There might be mime type conflict within your site or the file type is disabled by your host. You can test for conflict by following the troubleshooting guide.

    I hope this helps!

    Hi Sanjeev,
I have solved my original problem another way.
Maybe it’s my glasses but I don’t see .json anywhere in the list.
No way to attach a screenshot here.

Hi Kelly – I’m glad you sorted out the problem. Have a good one!
