Uploading images to Media Library shows question mark preview

  • I have uploaded my WordPress website to my FTP site for the first time. I have been editing locally so far.

    Uploading images just show a question mark thumbnail.

    When I click to EDIT the image, the preview shows the image correctly, but as soon as I save and go back into the MEDIA LIBRARY the thumbnail still shows the blue question mark. The images do not work anywhere on the website. All instances show a blue question mark preview.
