• I have seen posts with the similar question but not really any answers that would be helpful. I am new to wordpress, but i have been able to upload feature images until lately. I get the error message that says “An error occurred during the upload”. I tried to fix it with suggestions, but finally thought since my blog was new I could just start fresh. I deleted my account, uninstalled wordpress and then reinstalled fresh. All my information was deleted. This time, i did not install anything. No new themes, no plug ins. Everything was default. I went directly to create a new post and upload feature image. I get the same error.
Here is the confusing part. When i click on images uploaded to posts it shows a thumbnail of the images, even though it doesnt show on my upload screen and says there was an error. Then when i click on edit the image it says that the image doesnt exist and to upload again.
Hopefully someone can help. I’ve seen others say the cause is in the plug ins, themes or coding errors, but i dont think that can be in this situation.
    A wordpress problem??

  • How big are the images that you are uploading? Try a small image to see if it works.

Just checking: to upload the image, did you go in the menu “Media”, and then clicked on “add new”?

Thank you both for your replies. It was happening with both media and post uploads. I just resized an image and uploaded it perfectly so it must have been a size issue like graphical_force said. I didn’t expect that because it was the exact same image that I uploaded fine previously.

How should I be editing my picture to keep the quality. I don’t want to crop them, just a smaller version of my picture I guess?
I didn’t use a special program, just edit on my mac, but there were size options, and pixels per inch, etc. I wasn’t sure which one to use.

You can read more about how to handle image resizing here for instance: https://www.marywood.edu/web/content-editors/tutorials/resizing/
