I want users (that have signed up) to be able to upload images into posts.

I don’t want to give them all author rights to the sight though. Is there a plugin/hack that can be done to allow this kind of thing.

The reason I don’t want to give them author rights is that it allows them to make other changes as well as add posts.

    Regards,

    Jayce

  • Have a look at some of the role management plugins.

Thanks esmi (again), having a look at those now. Do you recommend any or have used any for this type of job before?

You would think WP would build in a check box system for every user or type would be easier…

I used Role Manager for a project a few years ago where we needed far more flexibility in assigning privileges per-user than WP provided by default. It worked well for me then but I haven’t needed anything like it since. Most blogs, in my experience, tend to be managed by less than 6 users, so the 4 basic role types are fine. My guess is that this is why the default role management doesn’t extend any further. It would be serious overkill for many blogs.

Yeah I agree about the overkill!!

I just want people to be able to start a post and add an image to it, but the only way they can do that is if I give them author rights (I think this is the minimum role), to allow them to..

Which as you say is overkill. I have downloaded a plugin called capabilities manager, which does seems to fit the bill, apart from that I have checked the boxes and saved, but guess what? Yeah it doesnt show posts in dashboard, but does show file uploader..

Argggg there has to be a plug in for this somewhere, will keep looking/trying them.

This is now sorted I got it to work with capabilities manager.

Thanks to esmi for the kickstart.

Great – I was going to suggest that too.
