  • When you create a post you just insert an attachment. Make it preferably a .zip or .rar so they don’t accidentally start it.

Specifically click the “insert media” button when posting :).

What I’m trying to do is put a jpeg in the text widget with a link to download a free eBook. And when visitor clicks the link they can download the book immediately. There is no post involved.

And I don’t know where to put the book to be accessed.

    Thanks

Here are the steps. I have a pdf ebook in a widget on my website and here’s how I did it. Upload the pdf to the media library. Upload the graphic for the ebook to the media library. Use an Image Widget in the sidebar. It will have a place where there’s a link to click to either upload from your computer or form the media library. Click where you upload the image and add it from the media library or browse and get it from your computer. Below that area is a place with a link. Remove the jpg link and paste in the link that you have copied for the pdf ebook, which will be on the box in the media library where the ebook is listed when you click Show. I have a screencast video on how to do it. Here’s a page with a screencast about creating the pdf in Word and uploading it to the media library and another screencast about adding the ebook to widgets, pages or posts. Here is the link to the screencasts https://studiomediacam.com/category/ebooks-2/
    good luck, Kristi

I can’t seem to find a theme that has an image widget. Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Milfredo

you can use the image via img tag (HTML) by using text widget in wordpress.
