  • Hi FPaulides,

Considering the last forum thread you have posted, would it be possible that you are using two different catalog plugins?

    Best regards,
    EWD

    Hi EWD,

Nope I am a pro UPCP user, next to that I did not install any other Catalog plugin.
But then again what are you referring to when you talk about a Catalog plugin? I have about 30 plugins installed…

    Hi FPaulides,

Do you mean that the category names are added to the products, but the categories don’t exist?

The categories and sub-categories need to be created manually before uploading, and then they should be automatically assigned to the products when the sheet is uploaded (along with the appropriate category and sub-category ID’s).

    Sorry for any confusion,
    EWD

Yes exactly, the category names are added to the products, but the categories don’t exist?

Ow wow, is that really necessary?

    Hi FPaulides,

The plugin tries to match the category name to the correct Category ID when products are uploaded, but it won’t automatically create new categories if they don’t already exist.

Is it then possible to upload a different xls sheet with categories and sub categories?

    I know it’s not a function but I could be a nice one ??
    Thanks for the explaining!

    Hi FPaulides,

Thanks for the feature request, we’ll look into adding it in a future version.

    Hi

I would like to see this feature as well. Maybe an excel-sheet with the following columns:

    |action|category name|category description|

    action
can bei either “+” for adding, “-” for deleting (just if no articles are in the category, ignored otherwise) or “=” for updating (category name and description, as the DB ID will not be changed)

    category name
    the name of the category

    category description
    the description of this category

This layout will allow then to add/delete/update cateogries.

The same logic could then be applied for sub-categories as well.

    Best,
    Thomas
