Uploaded Pic Removal/Error Message (X image in place of pic)

I’m new to WordPress/blogging. After I published my post, I had a pic(.jpg) to upload, which I did by clicking the Add Media icon. I uploaded the pic: used as the featured image & inserted into my post. After I saved it, I changed my mind & did not want it in my post. I deleted the image, but there’s an error message/display “X image” where the pic used to be, but when you click on the link to read the blog, the pic is not there. How do I remove the “X image”? It’s kinda annoying.
