    Hi,

i made a successful staging copy of my current WP installation.

    So far, so good.

It’s working, and i can work with it.

    I only got one problem:

It shows all copied images from the live site correctly, but i am not able to upload any new images:
if i upload one, only a empty image will shown up at my media library.

I deactivated as almost as every plugin, but no difference…

    Thanks for any help,

    Michael

    Hi @herooftheday77

another user had the same issue. It was caused by wrong folder permissions of the wp-content/upload folder and the user was using another plugin which was removing the date year labeled subfolder names, like wp-content/upload/2017/
Maybe you are using something similar?

    Hi,

    thanks for your reply.

The folders are intact, and neither i nor any plugin has changed anything.
I didn’t even installed any new plugins, since i just created the staging site and installed and tested a new theme.
    I also deactivated every plugin.

Filezilla shows me 755 for file permissions of “uploads”.

I changed it to “777” but no difference…

The upload function seems to work in first instance. It shows me the jpg file name, the date and so on.
It even shows me the image size and file size correctly (!)
But in fact, the file is missing:

    https://stoib.photography/stoib-demo/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/46a51f8f4d27faa1a7bf3058f3d07c95.jpg

    But i noticed the following:

If i upload a new image today, there should be a new folder inside “uploads” for “uploads/2018/01/”. But there isn’t any new folder. WordPress didn’t create one (or couldn’t create one).

    Strange….didn’t have the behavoir before.

And, again, the live site is still working correctly.

Ok, i checked the solution the other user found. ( The guy who had the same issue )

Even if it sounds illogical please do the following:

Login to WP-Admin Dashboard of the staging site
    Go to Setting tab
    Click on Media sub tab
Check for “Organize my uploads into month- and year-based folders“
Un-tick the check box to disable it or tick it if its enabled

Than try again the image upload.

If this is still not working, revert the change and try again.

    Is anything changing?

    Hi,

I also have this same issue the image will get successfully uploaded but will not visible on the site or in the folder it is not shown, I tried changing the image settings via WP-Admin Dashboard still no effect. I even tried uploading the images from my Cpanel hosting into the wp-content/upload/2018/3 folder then I tried to select it from the media library but the thing is it will not visible there also.
The interesting thing it is working properly on the live site.If somebody has found a solution to this problem, Please share.

    Thanks!

    Hi

The problem was solved in my case the uploaded images were going to the uploads on the live server that was the reason for that.

go settings>Media>Uploading Files>Store uploads in this folder

make sure the path of the folder is into the staging servers folder.

    Thanks!

    @vince123 Thanks for the feedback.

The setting you mention is included in WordPress default installation so I assume another plugin is creating that setting.

Anyways, good to know that you were able to fix it. It might help other people as well.

One of my clients had the same problem, changing the path where media files are stored, did the trick here.

@boemedia today I am releasing a new version which support custom media path. For example when upload folder has been changed from default one wp-content/uploads to something else.

    Thanks for your feedback:-)

    Awesome, thanks for updating!

I can’t see the images that are on the path /home/l17mskgrn75d/public_html/so-orgstagingwp-content/uploads? I tried changing to live site path – still don’t see images. I just got started – wondering if this is some kind of setup issue?

    @mikesteiner1

That path looks broken. There are slash characters missing.

Please send me the system info from wp staging > tools to my mail support [at] wp-staging.com and I am going to check it out.
