When uploading an image it WP puts them inte the dir wp-content, so the image doesn’t show up on my website or in the gallery.

If I then move the image from /wp-content to the dir /wp-content/uploads (I had to creat the uploadsdir myself) using FTP then the image comes up on my website and in the gallery.

How can I get WP to put the images directly into the uploads directory?

  • How does WP put an image anywhere? You are supposed to upload your images by FTP to the appropriate folder.

I use the wp-admin/upload.php page to upload the images, which you can find on the administration-page in “add new media” to upload the image.

WP then puts the image in the wrong dir. I am sure that it is not supposed to be that way. So do anyone knows how to solve my problem?

Solved it! Had to change the path in “Settings -> Miscellaneous”.

this appears to be a problem in the design of 2.7.
Images by default go to a directory called uploads but there is no folder by that name in the 2.7 package.
Once I created this folder my images and uploads worked fine.

    Definitely a design problem!!!

I changed my directory from site.com/wordpress to blogs.site.com/newname and I pulled my hair out for hours not being able to upload files properly. I messed around with permissions, added forum posts…and the only thing I needed to do was change the directory under Settings -> Miscellaneous to the appropriate folder.

The software is great for alot of things, but they really need to create an automator that can take the work and frustration out of updating…
