• Hi,

Suddenly the uploaded image doesn’t show in small format in the media library. Just a blank rectangle. Nor does it show on a web page that I’ve linked it to, or if I press the permalink. However, it shows if I want to edit it, so it has been uploaded to the library.

    I’ve tried to:
    – Edit and save the edited version.
    – Upload a renamed image that I’ve already have saved in the library.
    – Upload PNG and JPG.

Nothing works… anyone who can help me please?

    Cheers,
    Tommy

  • Hey @boomtommy
There are some common causes for blank thumbnails in the WordPress media library. They are specially related to Issues with PLUGINS or THEMES. But they can also happen if you moved from HTTP to HTTPS lately.
    Let’s try to fix it!

#1 Please make sure your WordPress site is up to date
#2 Deactivate all plugins (take note of what you are using and don’t forget to turn them on again afterwards)

#3 Activate a default theme (this requires more words)
This method requires a default WP theme to be installed on your site. These are free themes that come with every new WP installation and are typically named after years, such as “Twenty Twenty-One,” “Twenty Seventeen,” etc.

It’s important to keep at least two of the latest default themes installed on your site as WP will activate the most recent one when you deactivate your current theme. You can install them by going to Appearance → Themes → Add New. Once you’re sure you have a default theme installed, deactivate your current theme by activating a default theme.
Refresh the media library to see if your thumbnails are still blank. If they are, reactivate your primary theme, and move on to the next fix.

If the above solutions did not work or you recently changed themes and believe your thumbnail sizes have not resized, use this plugin to regenerate your thumbnails in a few simple clicks.

Hope some of this #Fix options will work for you ??
    Best,

    Many thanks Henrique!

I gave your instructions to my web support. They found that the images have been uploaded to the web server. But the permission to read them are incorrect. Hence they asked me to contact my web hotel and ask them to change the permissions, to allow everyone to read the images. The web hotel replied by saying that it wasn’t their business, they just handle the hosting, not WordPress.

So I’m stuck between my web support and web hotel. Who should I listen to, any idea of what to do?

    Happy easter,
    Tommy

    Hi Tommy!

I feel your pain here, a difficult situation indeed. I strongly believe you need your web hotel to offer Hosting WITH the correct permissions. Your business need that to operate properly!

You may consider changing this service provider for another one that would offer the permissions your web support team needs. Maybe asking this people’s advice on the question would help too.

Happy Easter for you and family ??
